Usha Vohra felicitates renowned Sitarist, Savita Bakshi
JAMMU, APRIL 15 – The First Lady, Mrs. Usha Vohra, felicitated well known Sitarist and the Additional Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Mrs. Savita Bakshi, at a function organized by the Nami Dogri Sanstha - The Art Foundation, Jammu, at K. L. Saigal Hall, here this evening.
The First Lady, who was the Chief Guest at the felicitation function, presented a shawl, citation and a memento to Mrs. Bakshi and conferred upon her the title of “Sangeet Surbhi” on behalf of the Nami Dogri Sanstha.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Vohra congratulated Mrs. Bakshi and said that she was highly impressed with what Mrs. Bakshi had achieved and wished her high success in her musical pursuits in the coming time.
The Secretary General, Press Club of Jammu, Mr. Suhail Kazmi, who was the Guest of Honour on the occasion, thanked the First Lady for being the Chief Guest at the function and for felicitating Mrs. Bakshi. He said that such functions are a medium to recognize the contribution of artists and encouraging them to achieve new heights of glory.
Mr. S. S. Anand Lehar, Advocate, who presided over the function, said that the Artists and Writers are the mirrors of the society and they perform a great role in strengthening peace and harmony. He lauded the contribution of Mrs. Bakshi in promotion of art, culture and languages.
Mr. Kapil Anirudh presented a paper on the occasion highlighting the achievements of Mrs. Bakshi as a renowned Sitarist. He enumerated the Sitar recitals performed by her within and outside the country and the awards and honours conferred on her.
Mrs. Bakshi thanked Mrs. Vohra and the Nami Dogri Sanstha for felicitating her.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Mr. Balraj Puri, President, Nami Dogri Sanstha - The Art Foundation, Jammu, Dogra Harish Kaila, Vice President, Bar Association, Jammu, Ms. Surinder Kour, a galaxy of artists, academicians, writers, intellectuals and lawyers.
